For the last three months, Ella and I have been training for the National Hong Kong U21s youth squad. We are now in the final 20 players of the trialing 50 and have been preparing to trial for a training tour to travel to New Zealand which will take place in November. Last Friday, we were fortunate enough to play against the Singapore A team. It was a great experience but proved very challenging. Unfortunately, we did lose but this has just given us more fuel to train harder and get ready for the trails coming up! Asian Youth Netball Championships are  coming up in December in which only 12 of these players are selected. Singapore will be there and so we hope, if we get selected, this rematch will end in victory for Hong Kong.
Stop press news - Ella has been selected for the final 15 who are going to NZ in early November for training. A big congratulations from the whole school community !

Edoardo Tanas, Year 9 - A windsurf youth champion !

During the summer I had two important windsurfing competitions: the European Championships in Latvia and the Italian Championships on Lake Como, Italy.
In Latvia the weather was very bad and I had to face unusual conditions, such as extremely high waves (almost 2 meters high!) and a very strong wind (up to 25 knots). I am light weighted and those conditions were very hard to handle! After 4 days and 11 races I ended 6th of the athletes born in 2002, and first between the Italians of my age.
The Italian Championships took place on Lake Como at the beginning of September. The best 50 athletes from all over Italy were competing for the U 15 title. I was very motivated because my family was already in Hong Kong and I was missing the beginning of the school year, I knew it would be difficult to gain a good position in the ranking, as this year I had to compete with people one year older than me… and believe me, it matters!
At the end of all races, with only one point between me and the first, I got the silver medal, I was still the first in the ranking between the competitors of my age.
Now I have to think of my next challenge: the World Championships in Cagliari, Sardinia (Italy) from Oct. 24th to the 31st.

Last year, year 11 Mandarin Higher class shared and enjoyed some Chinese dishes. They researched the dishes and found all the ingredients they needed to cook. Within this activity, the students learned Chinese culinary art, different styles of Chinese cooking and new vocabulary.
