![]() On the 8th of November, the Remembrance Sunday of 2015, four students and two teachers representing FIS attended the Remembrance Ceremony at the Cenotaph in Hong Kong Central. In the morning before the ceremony begun, the Cenotaph was filled with people who came with gratitude and respect for all the sacrifices made during the wars. The Government Officials, Judiciary representatives, Consulates representatives, the veterans, District Councils, and many community organisations and schools in Hong Kong all stood around the Cenotaph with a poppy flower. The ceremony begun with the Three Honour Guards and the Police Band marched on followed by the announcement of the opening. Our Two-Minute Silence started after the bugler played Last Post and it ended with the playing of Reveille. Following by that was the wreath laying. Originally, it was planned that Victoria, Hector, Eddie and I carry the wreath together. However this time it was limited to two people walking to the Cenotaph, so we decided to let the two girls, Victoria and I to take the role. When we were walking toward the Cenotaph and laid the wreath along with all the other wreaths, for me, it was such a spiritual and dignified moment. I felt very honored to be representing the school in this special occasion. It honestly moved me when there were so many people, who are willing to gather once a year and pay respect to the lost lives of the wars. And it was not just a ceremony; it was a way of remembering. After the wreath laying, the clergies read prayers, recitations for remembrance and blessings. The band played the Chinese National Anthem. The guards and the band marched off - it was the end of the ceremony. Personally, I have never been to an event like this. The atmosphere really made me have goose bumps because it was so spiritual. Everyone was so respectful and all came with a remembering heart. Lastly, I want to thank the school, especially Mr Williams and Monsieur Dremeaux for giving us the opportunity to attend such a special event. Occasions like this will always remind us, and the world that, We Remember.
